TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Nikita’ alum checks in as…

When “Dallas” returns later this summer to finish out season 3, it is going to have yet another new addition … and this one may already feel familiar to those of you who are major fans of “Nikita.”

Sources confirm (per TVLine) that Melinda Clarke has been cast to play Tracey McKay, one of the girlfriends that Bobby Ewing had during the original version of the show. This is a recast, as Beth Toussant played this part during back when the first incarnation was on the air. We’re not particularly surprised by that, but the bigger question is why she is back now. Clarke will be appearing in two episodes.

Perhaps this casting is yet another little way for the series to stay in touch with its roots, even if it is just something like a small character who is not even played by the same actor. Obviously not having the legendary Larry Hagman around anymore is a blow in that department, and while there are some original cast members still around, it’s always nice to inject some old blood with the new when you have an opportunity.

All we really hope comes out of this summer is that the ratings improve, and the show can finally prove to TNT that this whole idea of airing the show during the early months of the year was a mistake. It just feels better during the warmer months, when there is a little less competition and people can talk about the juicy storylines while out with their friends.
