‘Halt and Catch Fire’ episode 5 preview: Lee Pace plays the role of wet blanket

If there is one thing that we learn from the latest preview for next week’s “Halt and Catch Fire” episode, it is that Lee Pace’s Joe MacMillan is not an easy man to make happy. As a matter of fact, we are starting to wonder whether or not this guy is going to be ever someone who is able to sit back and relax over his accomplishments.

Next week’s episode is entitled “Adventure,” and it certainly feels like it is going to be just that given what he knows about IBM breathing down his neck, and about the sort of progress that needs to be made quickly in order for Cardiff to have a chance.

In the sneak peek video below, Gordon and his team are very quick to rejoice the simple fact that they have a build for a working computer. Lee Pace’s character, meanwhile, comes in and basically wants to throw it in the garbage for it not wanting to be in a confined space yet, especially when he promised potential buyers that this would be far more compressed than anything else they have seen. (He specifically used a briefcase for comparison.)

If you want to see a few other, more-generic details about what you can expect in this episode, then take a look at the official synopsis from the network themselves:

Cameron chafes under new management; Joe and Gordon try to obtain an important piece of technology.”

Coming off a great episode tonight, it will be interesting to see if the show can keep this same level of momentum. We’re hoping so, and if it does that there is a Joe MacMillan on set continuing to push them to get better and better (though hopefully in not such a sourpuss sort of way).
