TV Quick Hits: Brian Williams, Dave Chappelle, Bill de Blasio dominate talk TV

Tonight Show -Today’s TV Quick Hits is basically a talk show edition, given that all three of the videos that we have to share hail from some network show … and all happen to be very funny.

Brian Williams – For some reason, we still find Jimmy Fallon and his team splicing together Brian Williams newscasts into songs as something funny, even if it is set to “Baby Got Back.” What we find strange about this recurring sketch, though, is that the NBC Nightly News anchor has such a good sense of humor about himself that you could probably just call him up and have him do something for you in-person, like he does with “Slow Jam the News.” Plus, this entire idea is identical to what has been done online with President Obama.

Dave Chappelle – We have literally seen more of Chappelle in the past week on TV than in the past five years combined, as he tries to promote his string of shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Today, he “crashed” the set of “The Today Show,” and had a brief interview with Matt Lauer in the process. We’ll leave it to you in order to figure out whether or not this moment was smart thinking on the comic’s part, or just some cheesy / staged moment to create headlines like what we have here.

Bill de Blasio – In fulfilling a Stanley Cup Finals bet, the New York City Mayor appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to sing accompanied by a group of children boasting that they loved Los Angeles. The Mayor at least has a good sense of humor about all of this; plus, he sent free hot dogs!
