‘Big Brother Canada’ season 3 official, will move from Slice to Global

BB -Big Brother Canada 3” is now officially a thing, and there are some pretty big changes to go along with that.

Parent company Shaw Media announced early Wednesday that the new season of the show is going to move from Slice (where it has aired on cable both of the past two seasons) over to Global, which is the broadcast network that is home to “Big Brother USA” programming, and also new episodes of such shows as “NCIS” and “The Blacklist” in Canada.

As of right now, we presume that the start time will be around the same, given that it is not included on the Global fall schedule. The clear benefit to being on Global is that you reach a larger percentage of homes in Canada, and therefore will have a larger audience that can see you without jumping through hoops or buying a cable plan. All of these have to be considered good things. What will be curious to see is if this move changes anything when it comes to what the show will or will not put on the air, given that broadcast and cable networks tend to govern themselves somewhat differently. (We’re not as much of an expert on this with Canadian TV, though, as we are with it in America.)

We do still have some extra coverage of “Big Brother Canada 2” left over from when we were at the finale event for that last month, and this is something that we’ll roll out more and more as we get closer to the start of “Big Brother 16.” This has the potential to be yet another great season, even if much of it will depend on the cast and if the US can match some of the fun that the Canadians had this spring.
