‘Parenthood’ season 6 renewal official; ‘Cougar Town’ also renewed at TBS

At this point in the renewal process, we are basically dealing with some shows that are loose ends and not fully finalized until just about now. This includes NBC’s “Parenthood,” which had been in limbo for the past few days while the cast sorted through negotiations over how many episodes they would agree to be a part of.

While there are not specific details out there regarding how many episodes the main cast are signed on for out of the 13 that are ahead, we feel like it is probably somewhere between the 9 that was brought up from a money-saving standpoint and the aforementioned 13. Maybe we’ll see everyone in 11 or 12 episodes, and various characters will take a week off here and there? Given how NBC screwed it up when it comes to “Community” getting the ending it deserved, at least some other fans are not going to have to suffer that same loss.

As for some other news when it comes to renewals, TBS has scooped up “Cougar Town” for another season after its future was in doubt, and this one is confirmed now to be the final year for the show. This show has clearly had a crazier life than most, starting up on ABC before eventually fluttering over to TBS and finding itself a new home there for a few years. In the end, it’s pretty easy to be happy for the show and its fans, and we’re also pretty happy that the writer hasn’t lagged behind that much since Bill Lawrence stopped being as closely involved with the show as he once was.
