‘Glee’ season 5 finale spoilers: Big stories for Chord Overstreet, Darren Criss

Could McKinley High School somehow become a bigger talent pool than “Saturday Night Live“? With the way that the glee club is all making their dreams come true right now, you would start to think so. So far, we’ve got Rachel Berry on Broadway, Mercedes Jones with a record label, and also Kurt and Blaine at NYADA.

Darren Criss’ character is one of the “Glee” gang who is preparing potentially for a meteoric rise to stardom in the upcoming season 5 finale for the show, which carries with it the rather simple title of “The Rachel Berry Project.” That obviously in turn suggests that there will be some big developments for Lea Michele, and Chord Overstreet’s Sam will also have a huge role to play. “In the Season Five finale, Rachel meets a famous television writer (guest star Kristen Schaal), whose eccentric personality catches Rachel off guard. Meanwhile, Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Mercedes deal with the pressure of commitment as their careers take off, and the time has finally come for Blaine’s big showcase with June Dolloway (Shirley MacLaine).”

Hooray for more Shirley MacLaine! This character will be involved in Blaine’s temporary endgame, and take us further into what could be an excellent, surprising final season of the show. Ryan Murphy has already teased a time jump, and that New York City is not necessarily going to be the setting for the show. Personally, we’d like to see a leap forward of a few years to when the students are out of college, and beginning whatever their careers are meant to be after the fact. This is when you can really get an opportunity to see what the impact of glee club really was.
