‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5: Returning faces coming in finale

“The Vampire Diaries” may have some occasional stumbles during its season, but there is one thing that they consistently succeed at: Blowing things out of the water with their finales. To us, the season 3 finale is the finest thing that the show has ever done. Not only did you have the surprising way in which Elena became a vampire, but you had the crazy death of Alaric, and that final moment between the character and Jeremy that was worth a few tears.

Season 4 did some shocking things on its own in between graduating and temporarily killing Bonnie in order to bring Jeremy alive, so how is season 5 going to top that? It’s a difficult question to try to answer, but know that there are some crazy things ahead. For some more proof of that very thing, show executive producer Caroline Dries tells E! News that there are going to be some familiar faces turning up in this episode. Let’s hope that this is going to include Alaric, given that we are never tired of seeing him pop up on the show. It’s also possible that someone from “The Originals” could come over, since the shows shoot in Atlanta and the producers like to remain you that they are each part of the same world.

In addition to all of this, Dries says to expect another cliffhanger that is one of the best for the show to date. That’s a tough challenge for the series to try and live up to, but we definitely are interested in seeing them try.
