‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4: Notes on casting, Anson Mount’s arrival

How do you know that “Hell on Wheels” season 4 production is right around the corner? Think along the lines of the fact that the cast is starting to assemble in their temporary home for the next several months. Cullen Bohannon himself in Anson Mount confirmed on Twitter this weekend that he is back in Calgary, which is where the show films. Production starts up this week, and will continue throughout the spring and summer.

Mount’s character has quite a challenging story ahead, as season 4 begins with him in the drastically new position of husband and father in what is a very different sort of setting. As you may have heard, the character of Naomi was recast due to scheduling conflicts.

Now, we turn to a new subject: The casting of new characters! Writer / producer John Worth posted the following on Twitter about who one of the latest actors on the show will be, and it at least narrows down the choices a good bit:

One of our new actors starred in a long running show that started out on one network and finished on another.”

There are a few notable shows that do fit that description well, whether you are talking about something like “Medium,” “Scrubs,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “JAG,” or “Southland.” (Fun fact; NBC got rid of “JAG” in 1996 after less than a season, and it has survived via proxy thanks to “NCIS” ever since. That show draws better demo ratings still than most of NBC’s lineup.) It’s possible “Friday Night Lights” is eligible in this hint, as well, even if its episodes did not fully move to DirecTV as NBC did eventually put them on the air.

So who do you think Wirth’s clue could be talking about? Share your thoughts below.
