NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 2, episode 9 preview: Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, and ‘Shiizakana’

The latest -Friday night’s “Hannibal” was in a word insane, and also somewhat old-school. After spending the past several weeks of this season watching Will Graham get back out of prison, he is now playing much of the same game before entering it. He is in therapy again with Dr. Lecter, and also working with him to track down possible killers with the FBI.

“Shiizakana” is the title for the next new episode, which translates to be another element of Japanese cuisine. (In this case, it is often a pot of food. Much of the story that you saw with Jeremy Davies tonight (minus probably the part featuring someone crawling out of a horse) will be featured, along with many other surprises and characters.

Want to know more now? Then just take a look at the official synopsis below:

“The FBI is called in to investigate the discovery of a truck driver’s body, seemingly torn apart by two separate species of animal working in tandem, neither of which consumed their kill. After one of his therapy sessions, Will (Hugh Dancy) meets Hannibal’s (Mads Mikkelsen) strange new patient, Margot Verger (Katherine Isabelle). Will and Margot compare notes on Hannibal and his unconventional advice. Continually encouraging his patients to revel in what they are, Hannibal aims to determine Will’s true self by sending him a test, the results of which surprise even Hannibal.”

As for the promo below, it is certainly fascinating from the standpoint of trying to figure out what it all means, and what Hannibal’s real endgame is now that he is spending so much time with someone who understands his true nature. Can he push him over the edge again, or is he merely toying with him, knowing that there is no way he can be found out?
