‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4: Honors and a (reported) production date

We’re looking forward to the days when we can present some more glorious “Hell on Wheels” scoop for you, especially since we don’t really feel like those days are that far away anymore.

So when is production going to star in the Calgary, Albert area? The Calgary Herald reported last month that the date would be April 24, which is a week from today. For those curious about the weather (since it does get insanely cold there from October until March), it’s going to be at least several degrees above freezing and it shouldn’t be too horrible minus the rain. Granted, this is if the shooting is taking place during the day. Given that they are shooting in the summer, we’re sure that the cast of “The Walking Dead” in Georgia would love to switch spots with them.

Also, there are some congratulations that are in order right now! The series received won a multitude of honors at the Alberta Film and Television Awards, including the following:

  • Best Dramatic series
  • Best Editor (Bridget Durnford)
  • Best Overall Sound (Frank Laratta & Michael Playfair)
  • Best Costume Designer (Carol Case)
  • Best Makeup Artist (Sharon Toohey)

Those five honors from this past weekend should be the icing on the cake as we get ready to gear up into production again. There are some exciting times ahead, and we’ve already gotten a sense from a recasting that Naomi is going to have a large role to play … which makes some sense, given where Bohannon and company left off. More news will likely come out during filming, and we will have it here as it does.
