‘American Idol XIII’ top 6 spoilers: What Alex Preston, Dexter Roberts could perform

The logo -What’s with “American Idol” somehow getting their themes for future weeks of the show out before the current week’s results are in? It’s a little bit of a crazy phenomenon as of late, though we’re not going to complain too much about it one way or the other.

According to a report from TVLine, the remaining six contestants next week are going to sing twice, with the first performance being country-themed and the second one being rock. This theme is, at least to us, a little “meh” when you consider that it is hardly that far out of anyone’s comfort zone. You have people like Dexter Roberts who’s been doing country all season already, and Jessica Meuse has literally done this entire theme already. The only remaining contestants that could end up stretching themselves to do country are Jena Irene, Alex Preston, and Sam Woolf, though we imagine that they will just choose a country song and then adapt it to their style.

Then again, maybe this theme will be great from the standpoint of getting to see some of these contestants actually give original performances again that are artistic and a twist on the originals. How many times have we seen that this season? The answer is “not enough,” and outside of Jena and Alex, really not that much at all.

One artist of course will not even make it that far. Based on our review from last night’s episode, we expect to see Sam being the latest one to go home, though we wouldn’t be altogether shocked if Jessica leaves in the first shocking decision of the season. The judges have never been that nice to her, and she was a part of that disaster country trio that never came together.
