‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: First details on ‘romantic’ finale

The Mentalist -For all season long, “The Mentalist” has teased fans with two stories: The Red John saga, and then whatever is going on right now with Jane and Lisbon. We suppose you could throw Abbott and the FBI in there if you really wanted to, but we see them more as auxiliary players at this point working to help support the infrastructure that the show has created now.

While there are whispers now of the Red John story coming back in some form (at least in Jane having to potentially face repercussions still for killing him), we have a little more evidence that season 6 could end with a little bit of romance. According to what show creator Bruno Heller told TV Guide, there will be attention paid to some sort of romance before the show goes dark for the year and possibly forever:

“It’s a romantic finale rather than a [suspenseful] finale … With the death of Red John, there’s a sense of tying [things] up and certainly this romantic angle is one of them.”

Could Heller technically be talking her mostly about what is going on with Lisbon and Agent Pike? Sure, but we personally feel like the primary reason that Pedro Pascal’s character even exists at this point is to serve as a way to get Jane to wake up and realize how he feels. There was possible a shred of that with the end of “Silver Wings of Time,” and subtle notes of that could carry over into “Forest Green.” It may be near the end of the season, though, before you truly see what is happening in Jane’s brain.

What do you want to see on the “Mentalist” finale, and will you be disappointed by anything that is not Jane and Lisbon getting together? Share your thoughts below, and click here if you do want to read more on the next new episode.
