‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: First details on ‘romantic’ finale
For all season long, “The Mentalist” has teased fans with two stories: The Red John saga, and then whatever is going on right now with Jane and Lisbon. We suppose you could throw Abbott and the FBI in there if you really wanted to, but we see them more as auxiliary players at this point working to help support the infrastructure that the show has created now.
While there are whispers now of the Red John story coming back in some form (at least in Jane having to potentially face repercussions still for killing him), we have a little more evidence that season 6 could end with a little bit of romance. According to what show creator Bruno Heller told TV Guide, there will be attention paid to some sort of romance before the show goes dark for the year and possibly forever:
“It’s a romantic finale rather than a [suspenseful] finale … With the death of Red John, there’s a sense of tying [things] up and certainly this romantic angle is one of them.”
Could Heller technically be talking her mostly about what is going on with Lisbon and Agent Pike? Sure, but we personally feel like the primary reason that Pedro Pascal’s character even exists at this point is to serve as a way to get Jane to wake up and realize how he feels. There was possible a shred of that with the end of “Silver Wings of Time,” and subtle notes of that could carry over into “Forest Green.” It may be near the end of the season, though, before you truly see what is happening in Jane’s brain.
What do you want to see on the “Mentalist” finale, and will you be disappointed by anything that is not Jane and Lisbon getting together? Share your thoughts below, and click here if you do want to read more on the next new episode.

It’s been said elseware that Pike is going to propse to Lisbon in the finale, so I’m pretty sure that Jane and Lisbon aren’t going to get together.
Based on how Jane acted at the end of the last weeks episode, to me, he’s going to let Lisbon go and be happy with Pike. The only way I see Jane and Lisbon being together is if Lisbon realizes that she wants to be with Jane.

What I want to see on what I hope is the season finale and not the series finale is for Jane and Lisbon to profess their love for each other. I want them to realize they are in love with each other and that they can’t imagine their lives without each other in it. I don’t think they are ready yet for a big romantic kiss, just a strong and loving hug. Jane needs to “court” Lisbon. Prove to her that she can trust him and that he will always be honest with her and prove that he is ready to take off his wedding ring and move on. He needs to prove to Lisbon that she won’t be living in the shadow of his murdered wife. Prove that he is ready to be happy with her and let go of the sad past. I believe one reason she was one of his demands is because he knows he can’t live happily without her.
And CBS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RENEW THE MENTALIST!!! It and its fans deserve more seasons of it. There are so many more stories to tell, but please get rid of Agent Fisher. She just doesn’t work.
