‘The Originals’ spoilers: Trouble for Phoebe Tonkin’s Hayley; Sebastian Roche’s return

“The Originals” may have lost Rebekah seemingly for the season, but they are still finding a way to have all sorts of other crazy stuff unfold for these characters. This includes random characters in distress, seeing Klaus have to try to battle it out with Davina, and also tackle some particularly terrible night terrors when it comes to his own father.

The April 29 episode “A Closer Walk with Thee” will officially mark the return of Sebastian Roche (Mikael) to the series, and anyone who loved “The Vampire Diaries” and his story should be happy for that … even if the character is seemingly dead. Anytime that you can find a role for some of these familiar faces and have it make sense, we’re happy.

Also, the synopsis teases some major drama for Hayley, and also our Originals actually having to work with Genevieve to calm Davina down:

“Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) confronts a surprising enemy as she and her unborn baby fall into peril during a celebratory wake to honor a fallen member of the community. In order to save Hayley, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) enlist the help of Genevieve (guest star Elyse Levesque) who struggles to maintain control over Davina (Danielle Campbell) and the other young witches. Cami (Leah Pipes) tells Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) that Francesca (guest star Peta Sargent) is determined to find a mysterious key that may unlock a family secret. Meanwhile, as Klaus suffers from nightmares of his father Mikael (guest star Sebastian Roche), he is forced to examine his troubled relationship with his own adoptive son, Marcel.”

All of this sounds exciting, but we’ll maintain that if there is one thing that “The Originals” really needs to work on going into this upcoming second season (which will actually start shooting immediately after the first), it is finding a villain with the same sort of fortitude that Klaus has. There’s been too many scattered adversaries, and there was never a moment that we thought he was in the same horrible danger he was at times on “The Vampire Diaries.”
