‘Supernatural’ season 9: When will Jensen Ackles try to direct again?
How is this for good timing? The next new episode of “Supernatural” season 9 is going to be directed by none other than series regular Misha Collins, so it only seems appropriate that now would be the time that we also find out when another regular in Jensen Ackles wants to go behind the camera.
Speaking in a new interview with E! News, Ackles confirmed that he does have plans to direct again … but it won’t be this season. Rather, he is already making it clear that he has every intention to helm a season 10 installment, even if his busy schedule is not exactly going to be freed up at all:
“Yes, I did kind of throw the phone call out recently. Last year, I was busy being a new dad, so this year I hopefully…well, actually I don’t have more time on my hands, but I’m gonna attempt to try it again, so yeah, I think I will try it again.”
Ackles has so far directed three episodes of the show in “Heartache,” “The Girl Next Door,” and also “Weekend At Bobby’s.” However, he has not been in the chair since 2012. Meanwhile, his co-star in Jared Padalecki has yet to direct an hour of the show.
There are some other big things potentially coming during next season, including a 200th episode that should be huge. Imagine just how few shows end up making it to the point where they can have this sort of milestone, especially on a network like The CW where, save for a few exceptions, most shows only last around six or seven seasons.

Weekend at Bobby’s is one of my FAVORITE episodes of the series. Fantastic episode, great pacing. I think he has a future as a director if he wants it.
