‘The Americans’ season 2 spoilers: Matthew Rhys, Keri Russell on latest struggles

When it comes to new programming, FX is really getting itself into quite a rhythm. “The Americans” is premiering on Wednesday, February 26, at a time when “Justified” is still on the air, and it is taking over the timeslot previously held by “American Horror Story: Coven.”

The last time that you saw this series on the air, a number of characters were in a pretty difficult place. Philip and Elizabeth were pretty close to having everything complete fall apart from under them, and this new season is going to be all about trying to find a way to restore order and stability again. This is something that both Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell speak about extensively in the video below, and they explain that the episodes ahead are going to take their characters to new and exciting places.

When you think back to the first season, one of its primary selling points was that it really explored the dynamics of marriage between the two, and how there were near-constant conflicts that occurred between what they actually want, and what their duty is to their country. This season, that is going to get even more complicated courtesy of the whole family aspect of things. As the children grow older, they are going to start to become more and more perceptive as to what is going on around them. That means that the ruse will get even harder to carry out, and they have to continue to find a way to keep the secret alive.
