‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: ‘A Curious Thing,’ and what it could mean
When some of the casting and story news on “Once Upon a Time” starts to dry up a little bit, you move on to something else that can often be entertaining: Analyzing episode titles. That is what we are here to do today.
In a post on his Twitter account recent, co-creator Adam Horowitz revealed that the name for the 19th installment of the season is going to be “A Curious Thing” … which at least on the surface is not the most obvious name of all time. The show is known for twisting around popular fairy-tales, and when you think from that vantage point, this really could be a reference to just about anything.
However, it is possible that we are able to extrapolate a little bit more on this for two reasons:
1. We recently heard the news about the casting of Glinda the Good Witch, and you can read a little bit more on that subject over at the link here.
2. We did a little digging in the text of The Wizard of Oz in hopes of finding an utterance or two of this phrase, and we found something similar (skip the rest of the paragraph in case you are afraid of heavy speculation). In the 23rd chapter entitled “Glinda The Good Witch Grants Dorothy’s Wish,” you have the following quote from the Good Witch herself: “The Silver Shoes … have wonderful powers. And one of the most curious things about them is that they can carry you to any place in the world in three steps, and each step will be made in the wink of an eye. All you have to do is to knock the heels together three times and command the shoes to carry you wherever you wish to go.”
