ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Homeland,’ ‘How I Met Your Mother’ alum signs on

Take a look -Scandal’s” upcoming third season just managed to get even more scandalous.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, former “Homeland” and “How I Met Your Mother” star Nazinin Boniadi is going to recur on the third season of the ABC drama, and playing a part that is still being kept under wraps. (Can you really be surprised? This is “Scandal” that we are talking about here!) The only thing that has been confirmed is that her appearance will be for more than one of the final episodes of the third season.

When you hear about casting news around this point, you typically assume that this is the time that Boniadi will be on set filming, and will probably just be in a few episodes, starting with where the series is now. However, that is not necessarily the case when it comes to “Scandal”. For example, the casting of Olivia Pope’s mother was not unveiled until literally right before she appeared on the show. Boniadi could have been filming for quite a while now, and the producers may have just kept the role under wraps.

What this casting should ultimately mean to you is that it is merely another opportunity for us to see someone familiar on a show that is already fairly popular on the TV circuit. “Scandal” is a ratings phenomenon for ABC, and if there is one thing that Nazinin has excelled with (even if she has not had an opportunity to have many series regular gigs), it is getting to jump onto shows at their peak in popularity.

Also worth noting? That the rest of the third season is going to deal largely with the election, as well as Sally Langston trying to figure out whether or not she has a career in politics anymore after what she has went through with her husband. (Read more possibilities there at this link.)
