‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7, episode 15 review: What did Sheldon and Amy do?

The latest -On Thursday night’s “The Big Bang Theory” episode, we had a tale of many different romances … and also apparently bromances.

The biggest story for the episode, at least per the editing, was seeing Sheldon and Amy go on a romantic date aboard a train with Howard and Bernadette. This, in theory, was a good idea for her to at least convince him to do something romantic. Unfortunately for her, this was completely derailed thanks to the fact that this was aboard a train. Sheldon found a train aficionado to hang out with, and the entire night became all about the two of them rather than Sheldon and his girlfriend.

What made this story pretty wonderful from the writing standpoint was how it was almost entirely a misdirect. By around the third act, it started to feel like the two were going to be heading for a breakup; instead, what we saw was a very surprising kiss that took place, even if was in the context of Sheldon showing her all the token romantic things that they could do. Did he enjoy it? Maybe! It was the biggest step forward, anyway, for the two in quite a substantial amount of time.

While all this was happening, we had the nice little story about Raj potentially getting a new love interest in a vet, who helped him care for his dog Cinnamon after Leonard and Penny accidentally allowed it to eat chocolate. So far, we like the idea of this relationship almost even more than him and Lucy. It feels much more natural, and they obviously have one thing in common already: A love of pets.

All in all, this was by a mile the best “Big Bang Theory” episode of the entire winter so far, though it may still fall just short of the Christmas one as our favorite of season 7. Grade: A-.
