Marvel’s ‘Agents of SHIELD’ spoilers: Deathlock is coming!

Just in case you have been desperately hoping to find out some more information about whether or not “Agents of SHIELD” will actually get some sort of deeper Marvel presence infused in it, we do come now with some pretty awesome news: Deathlock is going to be coming to the show soon.

While this character may not be a particular notable character on the same level as the likes of a Iron Man or The Hulk, longtime comic book readers should at least be familiar with the name and some of the powers. As for how they fit into the show’s universe, the cool news here is that it has been planned all along … and for a character that is already a part of the series.

As Marvel itself was the first to reveal, the show’s February 4 episode entitled “T.R.A.C.K.S.” (which is fittingly during the February sweeps) will reveal that none other than J. August Richards’ character of Mike Peterson is set to become this character. Their site claims that he will have “a high-tech eye that allows him to see through walls, super strength and increased speed courtesy of a cybernetic leg,” which we suppose are all positives on the road to being ridiculously awesome. Unfortunately, this Mike also has some serious issues. For one, he is going to struggle within his new identity to really keep an element of himself in the midst of all of the madness. This is a classic superhero dilemma in some way; you want to embrace your powers, but you also have to be concerned about if it will break him to the point where “Mike” will never be in there at all.

What do you think about this big news, and are you excited for the rest of the season? Be sure to share your thoughts below.
