‘Glee’ season 5: Gwyneth Paltrow may join Dianna Agron, Heather Morris in 100th episode

Just how many guest stars is “Glee” trying to fit into their upcoming 100th episode? Let us just say that there is a roster that is so big, the show is strongly consider expanding things so that this becomes more of a two-week event than originally planned.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gwyneth Paltrow may return at some point in the role of Holly Holliday, the substitute teacher who ended up serving briefly as a love interest for Matthew Morrison’s Will while also helping to teach Spanish (albeit in controversial fashion). If she joins, Paltrow will join an adult lineup that includes Kristin Chenoweth and Jayma Mays, who is exiting the show a little later this season. When it comes to some of the McKinley graduates, Dianna Agron, Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, and Harry Shum Jr. are all making their own return to the series after a little bit of time away.

What is somewhat interesting right now when it comes to this news is how it impacts the rest of this season. Supposedly, part of the story here is that Sue Sylvester does finally find a way to shut down New Directions, and many of the former students return to help say goodbye to the program that they once loved. While this is in some ways a farewell to Will Schuster, Matthew Morrison is not leaving the show. As for what’s going to become of him, your guess is as good as ours.

Following this event, the show will air a series of episodes that are entirely focused around New York City, which will begin what could be a permanent shift over in season 6, the show’s rumored final season. Even though the world has changed, it is still fair to assume that Lima will never vanish from the show completely … even if it is off-screen. We would be surprised, for example, if the series finale does not go back somewhat to the show’s roots.
