‘Bones’ season 9 spoilers: Another hint on the mysterious Ghost Killer

There’s no new episode of “Bones” season 9 airing tonight, but the glorious news here is that just a week from today  you will have an opportunity to catch “The Ghost in the Killer.” This is the first installment following a lengthy hiatus, and one that is going to be important for a very simple reason: It could introduce a character in the Ghost Killer that lasts for a rather long time.

In what has to be a pretty welcome feeling, Stephen Nathan must have been reading our mind! After Pelant’s rise and fall, there was a part of us that was hoping that the Ghost Killer would turn out to be a woman; and based on the new quote that Nathan gave to TVLine, it feels like that is a stronger possibility than ever:

“[The identity of the killer] will not necessarily be personified [in the episode on January 10]. We will know that he or she — most probably a she — exists.”

Given how long the Pelant story took to tell, we have no problem at all with the show choosing to take its sweet time figuring out where it wants to go with the story of this Killer. Also, it would make sense that it would be a longer process, given that for the time being, Booth does not seem to be all that willing to even accept that there is a killer out there.

Not only this, but we know that there are some episodes ahead that do not seem in theory to have much to do with this killer, including one in “Born in the Philippines” that is focusing more on a country singer whose main description also serves as the title for the hour. This should be a fun time for the show, and we’re excited to see what happens.
