‘Duck Dynasty’s’ Phil Robertson reacts to suspension, internet explodes with reactions

Just in case you had not gotten your fill of the Phil Robertson – “Duck Dynasty” story from tonight, here is what can be looked at as one final chapter today … that is, unless someone else decides to speak out about it and stir up even more intense reactions from the internet.

Following the news today that Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the “Duck Dynasty” family, was suspended indefinitely for his comments to GQ by A&E, he released a statement to People Magazine that really doesn’t sound all that different than anything he has said before. While he doesn’t throw anything in here that you haven’t heard before, he does continues to stress that he believes that homosexuals are not following the teachings of God:

“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity.”

Since the news of his suspension broke, rabid fans and conservatives have blasted A&E for their decision to put Phil on hiatus from the show saying that the network is wrong for doing so, and that freedom of speech is only one-sided.  Meanwhile, angry “Duck Dynasty” fans can choose to stop watching the show in protest if they want. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. Whoever predicted that a guy with a giant beard that makes duck calls was going to make the internet implode this afternoon clearly wins the office pool.
